Ripple, along with major crypto exchange Coinbase and crypto asset manager Grayscale, had led a long-running campaign by the crypto industry to persuade the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to update its regulatory rulebook for crypto.
However, Ripple could be on the receiving end of a $2 billion SEC fine following its legal battle with the regulator, where a judge ruled that it illegally sold XRP to institutional investors.
