The Shiba Inu ecosystem team has provided new updates regarding the upcoming hard fork on the layer-2 scaling solution, Shibarium.

The team shared the update in the latest edition of SHIB Magazine. According to the announcement, the chain upgrade marks a pivotal moment in the progression of Shibarium’s infrastructure.

The hard fork will enhance different aspects of Shibarium, including optimizing transaction processing and overall network performance.

Details of Shibarium’s Latest Hard Fork

The hard fork will focus on two primary components of the Shibarium ecosystem – Bor and Heimdall. Notably, the Bor hard fork has already gone live today at 02:30 AM (EST), or block height 4504576.

This hard fork centers on two major proposals: increasing the calculation of the state sync confirmations and delaying the state sync confirmation by 128 seconds. These proposals address a bug related to state sync emanating from network partitions.

In addition, the second upgrade, dubbed Heimdall hard fork, will roll out tomorrow, May 3, at exactly 12:30 AM (EST), or block height 3941864. The Heimdall hard fork will enhance Shibarium’s transaction confirmation reliability and also help the network achieve “deterministic finality.”

The concept of deterministic finality guarantees that a transaction cannot be altered or reversed once confirmed. Once the technical team successfully rolls out both hard forks, Shibarium users will experience reduced transaction costs, better user experience, accessibility, and security.

Community Members Seek Auto Burn

Although the hard fork is expected to introduce mouthwatering features, Shiba Inu community members are focused on whether the upgrade will roll out the highly anticipated SHIB auto-burn portal.

Prominent Shiba Inu community member Lola raised this concern last month.

If you arent gonna add AUTO-BURN on this upgrade then you are just disappointing some #SHIB #SHIBARMY 👀

Previous Shibarium Upgrade

It is worth noting that Shibarium has gone through major upgrades since its launch in August 2023. Shibarium completed its first hard fork on December 5, 2023. The hard fork, aimed at supporting a multiple token burn model, occurred at Bor block height 1962000.

Shortly after the swift hard fork, Shibarium witnessed a surge in transaction volume, with the daily count soaring between 5 and 7 million. This contributed majorly to pushing the total transaction count to over 400 million.

At press time, Shibarium has processed 417,359,607 (417.35 million) transactions and minted 4,505,472 (4.5 million) blocks since its launch. A total of 1,793,206 (1.79 million) wallets have also interacted with the L2 network so far.
