Cardano Vasil Hardfork Finally Scheduled On Sept. 22

According to the blockchain’s development lab, Input-Output (IOG), the Cardano blockchain’s Vasil hard fork update will now happen on its main network on Sept. 22.

Vasil is a significant update intended to boost Cardano’s scalability and lower transaction fees; its introduction on a test network was initially scheduled for June. A hard fork is a backward-incompatible modification to the software used to validate and create new blocks.

However, the deployment witnessed repeated delays. Friday, IOG tweeted that the upgrade has passed its criterion of the successful completion and comprehensive testing of all essential components and community readiness confirmation.

The price of Cardano’s native token, ADA, decreased 0.8% over the past hour and 0.3% over the past 24 hours. Over the last year, ADA has been down 84%.
