Crypto.com Announces Partnership With Italian Football League - Lega Serie A

Lega Serie A and Crypto.com have announced a partnership that marks the first occasion a football league has partnered with a cryptocurrency platform.

As part of the partnership, the Italian football league will release a series of NFTs at the 2021 coppa Italia final at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia. This will mark the first time the two finalists, Atlanta and Juventus, meet at the Italian final. 

A number of football clubs have partnered with blockchain companies in the past few years, namely for sponsorship deals and in the creation of non-fungible ‘fan’ tokens. Manchester City joined the Socios.com platform to sign a multi-year deal with the NFT platform, while Bayern Munich joined a number of participant football clubs to enter the world of blockchain-based fantasy football. 

The partnership between the prestigious football league and Crypto.com will start with the release of a NFT series at the Coppa Italia final, and will include  the official trophy, match highlights and more. Going forward, the two organisations are expected to release a number of special digital collectibles and fan tokens.
